Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences
Amrita School of Medicine, Kochi, is the medical college of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham (deemed to be university). Students train at Amrita Hospital, Kochi, opened in 1998: a 1,450-bed tertiary hospital on a 125-acre campus with 31 operating theatres, one of the largest teaching hospitals in South India.

MBBS in India follows the National Medical Commission's Competency Based Medical Education (CBME) curriculum: 4.5 years of study plus a 1-year Compulsory Rotating Medical Internship (CRMI).

- Phase II: Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology
- Phase III Part 1: Community Medicine, Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, ENT, Ophthalmology
- Phase III Part 2: General Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics and allied subjects

- NEET-UG: every MBBS seat in India is allotted through NEET-UG.
- Counselling: deemed universities and All India Quota seats are filled through MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) counselling; state quota and most private college seats through the state counselling authority.
- Quotas: government/state quota, management quota and NRI quota, each with different fees.
- Eligibility: Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English, with the NMC minimum marks; at least 17 years old by 31 December of the admission year.
- Documents: NEET scorecard and admit card, Class 10 and 12 mark sheets, domicile/category certificates where applicable, ID proof, photographs.
