What is NEET PG?

NEET PG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Postgraduate) is the computer-based entrance examination conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) for admission to MD, MS and PG Diploma courses in India. It is taken by MBBS graduates who have completed, or are completing, their compulsory rotating internship. Check the current NBEMS information bulletin for eligibility, dates and the official pattern.

How the section-wise timed NEET PG mock test works

Five sections, one clock each

  • Section 1 → Section 5, 36 questions each, 42 minutes each.
  • When a section's time ends it is submitted and locked; the next section starts at once, with no break.
  • No going back to an earlier section, and time saved is not carried over.
  • Inside a section you can move freely, mark for review and change answers.

Subjects in every test (our estimate)

Subjects are mixed across the sections, as in the real exam. NBEMS does not publish a subject-wise distribution: the mix below is XEAL's estimate of a typical NEET PG paper.

Why ₹9?

We want only serious candidates to take this test: doctors who sit through all five sections and do not leave midway.

We have put a great deal of work into a question bank built on the MBBS subjects and the standard textbooks, so that you get the feel of the real exam, including the pressure of a 42-minute section that you cannot go back to.

₹9 is a one-time payment. You can take one full test every week for one year.

Instructions for the test

Pattern and marking

  1. 180 questions in five sections of 36 questions.
  2. Each section has its own 42-minute timer and is submitted and locked when the time is over; the next section starts at once.
  3. Every question has four options and one best answer.
  4. +4 for a correct answer, −1 for a wrong answer, 0 if not answered. Maximum 720.

Taking the test

  1. Log in with your XEAL account, or with your roll number (on the hall ticket) and registered mobile number.
  2. Keep 3 hours 30 minutes free: there is no break between the sections.
  3. You can submit a section early (you are asked to confirm); the next section starts straight away.
  4. Stay in the test window. If you switch to another tab or app, minimise or close the window, or lock your phone, the current section is submitted automatically and the next one starts.
  5. Your result and progress report are not shown on screen: they are e-mailed to you after the test.
  6. One test a week: your next mock test opens 7 days after the previous one, with new questions.
  7. Use a laptop or desktop if you can, with a stable internet connection.

Before you start

  • Keep 3 hours 30 minutes free and take the test in a quiet place, if possible with no one around.
  • Keep your cellphone away. If you take the test on your phone, turn on Do Not Disturb so a call does not take you out of the test window.
  • Plan your time: about 70 seconds per question, with a few minutes at the end of each section to revisit marked questions.

Make it a habit

  • Take a test every week: a new test opens 7 days after your last one.
  • Watch your accuracy and your negative marks, not only your score.
  • Put the mock test in your time table, so you take it at regular intervals before NEET PG.

Disclaimer: This mock test is for practice only. It is conducted by XEAL Education Works and is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) or the National Medical Commission (NMC). The pattern follows the NEET PG pattern as reported from the NBEMS information bulletin; the subject mix is our own estimate. Always check the current NBEMS information bulletin, and if the pattern changes we will update the test. Mock test scores do not predict a NEET PG rank.

How do the section-wise timed sections work?
