What is the OET?

The Occupational English Test (OET) is an English language test for healthcare professionals. It has four sub-tests: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. Listening and Reading are the same for all 12 professions it covers (from medicine and nursing to pharmacy, physiotherapy and dentistry) and use healthcare situations; Writing and Speaking are specific to your profession. Regulators, employers and universities in several countries accept OET results; always check what the organisation you are applying to asks for.

This mock test covers Listening and Reading. Writing and Speaking are not part of it yet.

Why ₹9?

We want only serious candidates to take this test: people who sit through the full Listening and Reading and do not leave midway.

Every set is written by our team for healthcare professionals, with recordings made for the test, so that you get used to listening once, taking notes at speed and reading against the clock.

₹9 is a one-time payment. You can take one full test every week for one year.

How it works

  1. Register for ₹9 with your XEAL account. Your roll number and hall ticket come by e-mail and WhatsApp.
  2. Put on headphones and do the sound check. Take Listening first, then Reading; you can take a break in between.
  3. Stay in the test window. If you switch to another tab or app, minimise or close the window, or lock your phone, the sub-test is submitted automatically with the answers saved so far.
  1. Your result and report are not shown on screen: they are e-mailed to you after both sub-tests.
  2. One test a week: your next mock test opens 7 days after the previous one, with a new set.
  3. Use a laptop or desktop if you can, with a stable internet connection.

OET mock test: frequently asked questions

Quick answers about the XEAL OET-style online mock test.

What is the XEAL OET mock test?
An OET-style practice test of the two sub-tests that are the same for every profession: Listening (about 40 minutes, 42 questions in Parts A, B and C, each recording played once) and Reading (60 minutes, 42 questions, with Part A strictly 15 minutes). You take it online, on a computer screen like OET on computer.
Does it include Writing and Speaking?
Not yet. Writing and Speaking are profession-specific in the OET (for example nursing or medicine) and need marking by an assessor. This mock test covers Listening and Reading, which are the same for all 12 OET professions.
How much does the OET mock test cost?
It costs ₹9 one time (GST included). That covers one full Listening and Reading mock test every week for one year, your roll number and hall ticket, and a report after every test.
How do I get my result?
Your marks out of 42 for Listening and for Reading, part by part, and a PDF report are e-mailed to you after the test. On the official OET scale, test takers awarded Grade B typically achieve at least 30 of 42 marks (oet.com); the report shows where you stand against that mark. It is not an official OET score.
Which accents will I hear?
The recordings use British and American English voices. The real OET uses a range of accents (mainly Australian, British and American), so also practise with other English accents.
Is this an official OET test?
No. XEAL Education Works is not affiliated with OET or Cambridge Boxhill Language Assessment; OET is a trademark of its owner. This is independent practice material written by our team.
What is the full form of OET?
OET stands for Occupational English Test. It is an English language test for healthcare professionals, with four sub-tests: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking.
Is this OET mock test for nurses or doctors?
Both. The OET Listening and Reading sub-tests are the same for all 12 OET professions, including nursing, medicine, pharmacy, dentistry and physiotherapy, so this mock test suits every profession.
What OET grade do I need?
It depends on the regulator or employer you are applying to. Many ask for Grade B (350 on the 0–500 scale) in each sub-test, but always check the current requirement of your regulator before you book.
