NEET UG MBBS Admission in Chhattisgarh: State Counselling Guide for Students

By XEAL Education Works counsellors · Since 2011 · Updated 6 Nov 2026

Short answer: MBBS and BDS state quota seats in Chhattisgarh are allotted through online counselling run by the Commissionerate of Medical Education, Chhattisgarh, on cgdme.in, using your NEET UG score. The 15% All India Quota seats in government colleges, and deemed university seats, are filled separately by MCC on mcc.nic.in, so most students should register for both. XEAL Education Works helps students from Chhattisgarh with both counselling routes online and by phone.

Who runs MBBS and BDS counselling in Chhattisgarh?

If you are planning MBBS admission in Chhattisgarh, the first thing to know is that there are two separate counselling routes, and both use your NEET UG score. The state quota seats in government and private medical and dental colleges of Chhattisgarh are allotted by the Commissionerate of Medical Education (CME), Chhattisgarh, based in Nava Raipur. All notices, merit lists, seat matrices and allotment lists for NEET counselling Chhattisgarh are published on its official website, cgdme.in, under the MBBS and BDS sections.

The second route is the 15% All India Quota (AIQ) in government medical colleges, along with central institutions and deemed universities. These seats are filled by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) of the Government of India. NEET UG itself is conducted by the National Testing Agency, and the result and scorecard come from neet.nta.nic.in.

Most students from Chhattisgarh should register for both. MCC rounds and state rounds run in parallel, so you need to track two calendars and two sets of rules.

How the Chhattisgarh state counselling works, step by step

Every year, after NEET UG results, CME Chhattisgarh releases a tentative schedule, an online application notice and a provisional seat matrix. The state receives the list of NEET-qualified candidates from NTA and builds its own state merit list from those who apply. The broad sequence is:

  1. Online application and registration on the state portal linked from cgdme.in, with payment of the registration fee. Read the refund rules carefully, because the state publishes lists of candidates whose registration fee is refunded and whose fee is forfeited.
  2. Choice filling of colleges and courses (MBBS and BDS) within the dates given in the notice. Only candidates who complete valid choice filling are included in the round merit list.
  3. Merit list and provisional allotment for Round 1, followed by document scrutiny and admission at the allotted college within the reporting window.
  4. Seat resignation or withdrawal window after a round, for candidates who want to leave a state quota seat within the permitted time.
  5. Round 2 and Round 3, where fresh registration may be opened and previously registered candidates can fill new choices against the clear vacancy.
  6. Stray vacancy rounds for seats still vacant at the end. In recent years the state has also announced a special stray vacancy round when seats remained unfilled.

The exact number of rounds, dates and rules change from year to year, so always follow the current notice and information bulletin on cgdme.in rather than last year's pattern.

Eligibility and domicile in general terms

To take part in Chhattisgarh state quota counselling you must have qualified NEET UG and meet the eligibility rules in the state's admission rules for medical, dental and physiotherapy graduate courses. The state government notifies these rules and revises them from time to time, so the latest version on the Rules page of cgdme.in is the one that applies.

As in most states, state quota seats are mainly meant for candidates who satisfy the Chhattisgarh domicile or bona fide resident conditions laid down in the rules. Reservation for categories notified by the state, and special categories such as the freedom fighter category, are applied as per the rules and the seat matrix. Private colleges also have NRI quota seats, and candidates claiming NRI eligibility have to submit supporting documents separately within the deadline announced in the notice.

If you are not sure whether you count as a Chhattisgarh domicile candidate, for example because you studied Class 11 and 12 outside the state, check the rules before filling choices. A wrong claim can lead to cancellation of the seat at the document scrutiny stage.

Government, private and deemed colleges: what to compare

Medical colleges in Chhattisgarh fall into three practical groups:

  • Government medical colleges: lower fees and high demand. State quota seats here go through CME counselling, while the 15% AIQ seats go through MCC. The state has also been opening new government medical colleges, so the list of institutions can grow from one year to the next.
  • Private medical and dental colleges: seats, including NRI quota seats, are filled through the state counselling as per the seat matrix. Fees for private MBBS are fixed by the state's Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee, and CME publishes the private college fee details on cgdme.in.
  • Deemed universities and central institutions: these are not part of the state counselling. Their seats are filled through MCC counselling, open to candidates from all states.

When you compare options, look at the total cost for the full course (tuition, hostel, security deposit and other charges), the college's recognition status with the National Medical Commission, hospital patient load, and any service bond. Chhattisgarh has a contracted government service requirement for MBBS graduates of state colleges, so read the bond terms in the current bulletin before you lock a seat. Documents to keep ready

The current information bulletin gives the final list, but students from Chhattisgarh are usually asked for:

  • NEET UG admit card and scorecard
  • Class 10 certificate (for date of birth) and Class 10 and 12 marksheets
  • Domicile or bona fide resident certificate of Chhattisgarh, as required by the rules
  • Caste or category certificate in the state format, where you claim reservation
  • Certificates for special categories such as freedom fighter or persons with disability, if applicable
  • NRI documents for NRI quota candidates, submitted within the separate deadline
  • Passport size photographs, ID proof and the registration and allotment printouts
  • Fee payment as per the allotment notice, by the method the college or state specifies

Keep originals plus several self-attested photocopies, and carry them to scrutiny even if you uploaded scans online.

Common mistakes Chhattisgarh students make

  • Registering only for the state or only for MCC. Students with a good score can lose a better government seat by ignoring the 15% AIQ.
  • Not completing valid choice filling. Registration alone is not enough; you must fill and lock choices in each round you want to be considered for.
  • Missing the resignation window. If you get a better seat elsewhere, leaving the state seat outside the permitted window can mean losing fees or facing penalties.
  • Ignoring the bond and total fee. Look beyond the first-year fee and understand the service bond terms.
  • Relying on social media screenshots. Seat matrices and schedules are revised often. Trust only the notices on cgdme.in and mcc.nic.in.
  • Wrong category or domicile claims. Any mismatch at document scrutiny can cancel the allotment.
