Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology
Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET), formerly Thapar University, is a private deemed university in Patiala, Punjab, founded in 1956 by the Thapar group. Its residential campus of about 250 acres sits on the Bhadson Road in Patiala, roughly 65 km from Chandigarh. TIET is one of the best-known private engineering institutions in north India, accredited NAAC A++ and ranked 29 in the NIRF 2025 Engineering rankings. It has academic partnerships with Trinity College Dublin and the University of Queensland. Admission to B.E./B.Tech is based on JEE Main rank for the top computing branches and on JEE Main or Class 12 PCM marks for several other branches, with a large Computer Engineering intake.

Thapar charges a fixed total programme fee locked for the 2026-27 batch, paid in 8 equal semester instalments. Figure used = annual programme fee for COE/CSE/DSAI/CSBS/ENC group: INR 3,25,000 per semester (tuition 2,57,000 + development 57,000 + other charges 11,000) = INR 6,50,000 per year; pure tuition = INR 5,14,000 per year. Group 2 (BT, ECE, EEC, EVD, RAI): INR 2,94,800 per semester. Other branches: INR 2,48,600 per semester. One-time admission fee INR 30,000.
